Golf Course Flyover Videos & Digital Infrastructure
Drone Filming for Golf Clubs UK & Ireland - Frequently Asked Questions
SkyLine Golf creates cinematic drone flyovers and long-life digital infrastructure for golf clubs and resorts across the UK and Ireland.
Our work helps clubs present their course professionally online, attract visitors and sponsors, and build digital assets that endure for years — not just content for today.
If your question isn’t listed here, we’re always happy to help.

1. What exactly is a golf course flyover video?
A golf course flyover video is a cinematic aerial tour of your course filmed using professional drones and high-definition cameras. It shows each hole from tee to green, highlighting layout, hazards, design features and landscape.
SkyLine Golf typically supplies each hole (1–18) as separate videos, ready for use on your website, social media and marketing channels.
When produced professionally, a flyover can function as a long-life digital asset with a typical lifespan of 5–7 years, provided no major course redesign or landscaping changes occur.
2. What’s the difference between drone footage and a digital asset?
A drone video is footage. A digital asset is infrastructure.
Most drone filming is created as short-term marketing content. A SkyLine digital asset is engineered for long-term use across marketing, sponsorship, tourism and commercial strategy.
It is built to endure, generate value and support revenue — not simply to be posted once and replaced.
3. How long does a golf course flyover remain usable?
Most professionally produced flyovers remain visually accurate and commercially useful for 5–7 years.
Because the course itself rarely changes significantly, the digital asset continues delivering value long after production — making the annual cost extremely economical.
Many clubs also align sponsor partnerships with this lifespan, creating multi-year commercial agreements.
4. Why are golf course flyovers important for modern clubs?
For many potential visitors, your website is the first experience of your course.
Flyovers allow golfers to understand layout, scale and character before they arrive — creating confidence, desire and emotional connection.
They also support membership marketing, visitor bookings, tourism promotion and sponsorship visibility.
5. How can a flyover video benefit my golf club commercially?
Flyovers strengthen your club’s digital presence, enhance brand perception and improve marketing effectiveness. They support:
• membership growth
• visitor attraction
• tourism promotion
• society bookings
• event marketing
• sponsorship revenue
• corporate hospitality positioning
Because they are long-life assets, they continue delivering commercial benefit year after year.
Our Super Deluxe package unlocks all of the commercial benefits we offer.
6. What is meant by “digital infrastructure” for a golf club?
Digital infrastructure refers to permanent, strategic digital assets that support how your club is presented and experienced online.
This includes structured flyovers, consistent visual presentation and sponsor integration designed for long-term use.
It is comparable to physical infrastructure — built once, used continuously.
See our Portfolio page for real life projects.
7. How does digital infrastructure help commercial decision-making?
Clubs can make stronger strategic decisions when presentation is consistent and professional. Digital infrastructure supports:
• sponsorship valuation
• tourism positioning
• brand perception
• marketing planning
• investor and partner confidence
• long-term revenue planning
It moves digital presentation from marketing expense to capital investment.
Our Services page gives details of the main packages we offer. That said, we can also build bespokse packages around your specific needs.
8. How do sponsors fit into golf course flyover videos?
Sponsor branding can be integrated into flyovers through tasteful digital placement, hole introductions or architectural screen design.
This creates year-round visibility across websites, social media and digital marketing — far beyond traditional on-course signage.
Our Super Deluxe package page details everything that’s included.
9. What is the difference between static signage and digital sponsorship?
Static signage is seen only by those physically present.
Digital sponsorship reaches global audiences 24/7 and delivers measurable engagement data.
It provides broader reach, longer exposure and stronger return on investment.
Our Homepage gives some good insights into digital vs static.
10. Can sponsor branding be updated later?
Yes. Digital branding can be updated without re-filming the course.
Logos and messages can be refreshed as sponsor agreements change.
11. What types of businesses sponsor golf flyovers?
Typical sponsors include:
• property developers
• financial services
• hospitality brands
• luxury goods
• automotive
• construction
• regional businesses
• tourism organisations
Any brand seeking association with premium environments benefits.
12. Can sponsors measure their exposure?
Yes. Digital platforms provide viewing data, engagement metrics and audience reach.
This measurable visibility is highly valued by commercial partners.
13. How long does a full golf course drone filming project take?
Most 18-hole courses are filmed over 2 days within a weather window of around 5 days.
Final delivery is typically 6–8 weeks depending on editing schedule and season. We handle everything — from planning and permissions to editing and delivery.
During our peak summer months, our editing times may take a little longer as we are prioritising filming on courses. However, we will always agree a mutually agreeable delivery date with you and we will stick to it. We’re also happy to attend a final board or committee meeting to do a full walk through for your leadership teams – in fact we prefer to do it this way.
14. When is the best time of year for golf drone filming?
The optimal filming season is mid-April to early September when course presentation and lighting conditions are strongest.
15. What happens if the weather is unsuitable?
Weather is always factored into our planning and for full course flyovers we usually offer a full week weather window. If conditions aren’t ideal, we reschedule filming at no extra charge to ensure your course looks its absolute best. Most of our golf flyover filming is done over the summer months, from mid-April to early September.
We do not fly if it’s raining or if the wind is blowing at 25 mph or more.
16. Do we need permissions for drone filming?
No. SkyLine Golf manages all permissions, insurance and CAA compliance.
We can also work around situations where you may be located in a ‘no fly zone’ e.g. close to an Airport or Airbase. In those circumstances, our drone pilots work with local Air Traffic Control to secure the necessary permissions.
17. Can commentary or club branding be included?
Absolutely. Our Deluxe and Super Deluxe packages offer full commentary. With Super Deluxe, you can also select which voice characteristics and likeness you’d prefer!
We always aim to work with you to create a polished, branded experience, even in our lower tier Essential package.
18. What if our course has trees or complex terrain?
No problem. Our experienced and Civil Aviation Authority registered drone operators plan each flight to showcase your course’s best angles while respecting UK airspace rules, safety, and environmental considerations.
We also undertake a full on-site risk assessment ahead of any filming work. We may also run a number of tests flights ahead of filming day to ensure everything is dialled in.
19. How are the completed videos delivered?
Videos are supplied in HD or 4K formats suitable for website, social media and digital display systems.
20. Can we use the videos for marketing campaigns?
Definitely. Many clubs use their flyovers as part of marketing campaigns, social media ads, membership drives, or visitor promotions.
The footage remains copyright of Skyline Golf, but you have unrestricted rights to use across your owned platforms. We can also advise on how to implement an effective online digital presence to tie everything together between your main website and the various social media platforms.
21. Can flyovers be used in tourism promotion?
Yes. Many clubs use them in destination marketing and regional tourism partnerships.
22. Can digital flyovers attract higher-value sponsors?
Yes. Professional presentation and measurable exposure support premium sponsorship positioning.
23. Can physical signage still be used alongside digital?
Yes. Many clubs combine physical and digital sponsorship for maximum impact.
24. How much does golf drone filming cost?
Costs vary depending on course size, production level and sponsor integration.
We offer several packages depending on your needs — from individual hole flyovers to full 18-hole productions with sponsor integration. Prices are transparent and scalable. We normally require a 30% deposit to secure the booking and then the balance is paid within 14 days of delivery of the final project.
Contact us for a custom quote tailored to your club. We believe the investment will quickly pay for itself through the opening up of new playing and sponsorship revenue streams, especially if you consider this to be a long term digital asset with a long useful life.
25. Is a golf course flyover a good long-term investment?
Yes. Because assets remain usable for years, annualised cost is low and commercial value continues to accumulate.
26. Can flyovers be displayed inside the clubhouse?
Yes. Many clubs display looping footage on screens or hospitality areas.
