Westhoughton Golf Club

Course Overview

Located just 5 minutes from Junction 5 of the M61, Westhoughton Golf Club is a classic parkland course founded in 1929, originally as a 9-hole course.

It was extended to a 18-hole course in 2005, and this leads to a challenging course presented in two halves, one part being narrower fairways and small greens and the other, newer portion, being more open and longer.

The club has a vibrant membership, as well as a passionate committee of Directors and staff determined to help the club continue to go from strength to strength.

The Directors take great pride in the presentation of the course, as the images on this page amply demonstrate.

The club had commissioned a flyover series in the past, but this was a computer generated variant and fell a long way short in capturing the essence of the course and the beauty it offers.

The Directors wanted to showcase the course looking pristine, and as such we opted for a July filming date. Despite the very hot summer of 2025, the course presentation was first class as the final production affirms. Great credit too to the greenkeeping team!

The club were also keen to unlock latent sponsorship revenue opportunities, and to look for ways to attract potential new sponsors in the future.

The Brief/Challenge

We gave a full presentation to the full committee at the outset of the project so we could scope out the club’s requirements. This included a full Q&A session to get the committee knowledgeable about the flyover and filming process, together with explanation of some of the options.

The club is adjacent to a passenger railway line, so we undertook a full risk assessment ahead of filming to ensure all was safe to proceed. Any issues identified were mitigated.

In addition, we gave the club options to promote themselves further across social media platforms, which led to the inclusion of a social media contact page at the end of each video.

The final flyover Super Deluxe package was presented to the full committee on completion to their complete satisfaction.

The club are in the process of updating their website and social media pages with the new content, where we expect this will feature heavily and attract very positive reviews in the coming weeks and months.

We also anticipate working further with the club as they bring new sponsorship partners on board, to update their videos and provide essential visibility through online digital media.

In all, a very positive experience for SkyLine. The directors, especially Tim Eden, worked closely with us to produce a final product which is a fitting testament to a very well appointed golf course.
